Our sculpture is hand crafted in Zimbabwe by skilled artists, mostly of the Shona tribe.  The Artists come from culturally rich backgrounds and traditions.  The sculpture, even though contemporary is influenced by many traditional, social, natural and other factors.  All of our sculptures are one-off.  The artists delight in creating new designs and using their imagination to fire new inspiration for future work.

The artists very often quarry their own raw stone to their particular specifications and then work it by hand.  They rarely use power tools, therefore most of these works are chiseled from raw stone with basic hand tools.  They are polished by hand and are heated and then waxed to give the pieces a lasting shine.

Most of the artists are self taught or learn through informal apprenticeships with friends or family members who are already well accomplished.  There are also several co-operatives which encourage younger members of the community to take up the craft and are able to pool their resources for mutual benefit.

We purchase most of our sculpture directly from the artists.  Because of this we are able to offer the sculpture for sale at very reasonable prices.  We have developed good relationships with the many artists that we deal with and in many cases are able to offer biographies and photos of particular artists.
