Denny began sculpting in 1987 at school, and eventually developed his talent under the influence of Nesbert Mukomberanwa and acclaimed first-generation sculptor, Moses Masaya. He enjoys carving abstract figures in current events and, occasionally, large pieces representing art in action. He also likes to express past stories in his sculptures such as stories like Shaka the Zulu, Lobengula and some of the Shona Chiefs. He says the ideas for his for his work come from everyday life in high-density suburbs. Denny ‘s works have been quite an attraction to Zimbabwe’s foreign visitors who admire his work. Denny was invited to numerous shows overseas in places like Europe and America where Denny was happy to share his wonderful artistic talent and unique style of sculpting. In 1993 when Denny was at the tender age of 19, he traveled to Holland and Belgium for three exhibitions. His work attracted many people and his popularity increased dramatically. His work has been exhibited in Berkshire and Eton, the United Kingdom, Chiefs and Spirits Gallery in Den Haag, Holland, Chiefs and Spirits in Brussels, Belgium, France, Germany, Hamburg, and Frankfurt. In July 1999 Denny was invited to attend three Shona Sculpture exhibitions in San Francisco, Oakland, and Seattle. In February 2000 Denny had a one man show in Durban, South Africa which was a great success. Denny also attended two major exhibitions in Las Vegas and Shamwari Gallery’s August 2000 garden exhibition in Oakland, California and is happy to share his beautiful art for all eyes to enjoy.
