Gabriel discovered that he was talented in art during his days in school. He always excelled in woodwork, and art. He participated in several carving and drawing competitions for secondary school pupils and won a number of prizes. After secondary education, Gabriel decided to pursue his dreams (to become a highly renowned sculptor). He enrolled as a student in the Village Gallery in Chitungwiza owned by Nesbert Mukomberanwa) an established and prominent Shona artist. For two years he went through an Apprenticeship. In 1998 he produced his first sculpture ‘Proud Soul” PROUD of the progress he had made in developing his talent….
Since them Gabriel never looked back, he now has sculptures exhibited in a
number of private Gabriel is inspired by nature, he prefers working with the most natural elements like raw stone and simple tools like hammers, chisels and raspers. His choice of subjects reflect an expression of energy and vitality as well as the relationship between man and nature. His style bears a close resemblance to that of this mentor, Nesbert. The differences are in subject matter and self expression. Gabriel wishes to become one of the prominent artists in the young sculptors. With his determination the sky is the only limitation.
