Lucky Office was born in 1976 in the Hurungwe District.  Lucky Office began sculpting at the age of 19 after a chance with Moses Masaya.  For two years Office worked with Masaya but since 1998 he has lived and worked on his own.

Office’s sculptures like those of Masaya are characterised by a respect for the shape of the stone.  Human and animal forms are frequently sculptured and reference to Shona society culture and beliefs are also source of inspiration.

Family tradedgies have profoundly influenced much of Office’s work, which frequently has themes that relate to human relationship and personal feeling.  The pieces are artistic response to deeply felt emotions.  Through his sculpture Office has discovered an eloquent and last means of self-expression.. Feelings of sadness and insecurity often are present in his work, as evidenced not only by sculptural forms but also by their titles.

Office has instinctively shown an acute awareness of the qualities of his chosen medium.  “Let stone be stone” is a time-honoured tradition of the great Carver Sculptors from Michaelangelo to Brancusi to more and it is a tradition to which Shona Sculptors such as Office remain faithful.

Office’s works have been exhibited in the international Exhibition in Matobo Gallery, USA, Britain, Holland, Belgium and Germany.
