Patience – Micky Bvunzawabaya was born on 4th May 1972 and grew up in Chitungwiza.  Chitungwiza is found on the southern side of Greater Harare.  Patience “B”, as he signs his works is the 4th born in his family, but the first boy in a family of 6 girls and two boys.

Patience “B” completed his “O” levels in Chitungwiza at Seke No5 High School after a stint of 3 years at a missionary school (All Souls Mission) as a boarder.  In a town where he was born, that is Mutoko.  After school, he first trained as an electrician for almost 4 years before engaging into stone carving/ sculpting in 1993.

Patience “B” learnt sculpting through the hands of Nesbert Mukomberanwa and Lincon Muteta.  But for all his most regards he forwards or dedicates them to the late Moses Masaya who encouraged him to start stone carving.  Moses Masaya is the one who discovered that Patience “B”’s  talent was deeply concerned in art.  His encouragement dates back to the early days of the 1980’s, when Patience “B” was doing his primary education.  Moses Masaya discovered that Patience was really good at free-hand drawings and craft works.

For evidence of his ability in stone carving, Patience also has his works for viewing to some of the art collectors around the world.

Patience “B” is a full time sculptor and some of his works are found in galleries around Harare as well as The National Gallery.  He has also regularly taken part in the National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s Mobile Exhibitions.
